Poor Benjamin was found tied up behind a restaurant near the dumpsters...thrown out like yesterday's trash. He was covered in fleas, fur matted with dirt, feces, and urine and he was emaciated.
A vet exam showed that Benjamin was anemic due to all the fleas. He had to be completely shaved because of all the matted fur and he had many completely bald areas where his fur had fallen out as a result of flea infestation and neglect. His teeth were in horrible condition and he was suffering from a bad infection in his gums.
We are pleased to tell you that Benjamin was able to recover from his ordeal and has thrived!! He weighs about 10 pounds now and the vet suspects he is between 9 and 10 years of age. His fur has grown back beautifully and after receiving a good dental cleaning, having some teeth pulled, and receiving a round of antibiotics, his oral health has greatly improved!
Benjamin loves to be held and cuddled. He now plays with toys and his foster doggie siblings! He has a true appreciation for life and seems to enjoy every moment of it.
