***PHOTOS MAY BE HARD FOR SOME PEOPLE TO LOOK AT*****
Shayla is a 2 year old Chihuahua/Terrier mix, she weighs about 8 pounds.
She was released to us by her owner after she sustained a traumatic injury to her leg. Unfortunately it had been a week since the injury happened and there was nothing our veterinarian could do to help fix her. She had her left front leg amputated last week and it was a huge surgery for her but she is a strong little girl.
Shayla's photos are hard to look at but her new adopter needs to know what she went through and that she will need extra special care. Dogs do really well adapting to 3 legs but she will need a home with limited steps especially since this is her front leg.
Shayla will need a fenced yard so she can have her freedom during play and potty time. It is almost impossible to find a harness to fit a dog without a front leg and pulling on a collar all the time would be bad for her neck and throat.
Please fill out an application from our website if you are interested in Shayla. We will not consider applicants without a fenced yard or with a lot of stairs. If you have outdoor stairs to the yard they would need to be 1 or 2 steps or she would need a ramp installed. She is a sweet girl but because of her injury we feel she would do best in a home with older kids.
Shayla's adoption donation is $350 to help cover the cost of her surgery.
