Buttercup was thrown out on a country road in Surry County and waited right there for at least three days until a kind man notified Surry Animal Rescue. She is about 3 years old, weighs about 45 lbs, is spayed, and has had all her vaccinations. Buttercup’s personality is sweet and eager. She knows her name and obeys commands. Buttercup takes treats gently from your fingers, rides well in a car, and enjoys going for walks. She loves to curl up in your lap or next to you and bury her head in your side. She sleeps all night long curled up next to her foster parents and barely moves. Buttercup’s skin is sensitive and she has allergies that manifest in her skin. An inexpensive antihistamine like Benadryl, fish oil capsules like Derm Caps, limited ingredient food (several different brands, for example Wellness, can be purchased at many local pet shops), and a hypoallergenic shampoo keep Buttercup’s skin in good condition and minimize her urge to itch. Because of Buttercup’s tender, sensitive skin, she should stay indoors and away from airborne allergens as much as possible. We would like to see Buttercup go into a home that is familiar with this breed. She needs to be placed with older children only, that will not get knocked over with her energy. Buttercup wants to play with every other dog she sees, but does not get along with all dogs. She gets along well with the cats in her foster home. She needs her own loving home with a fenced in yard and she will reward her new family with twists of delight and soft barks of joyful anticipation.
Fenced in yard REQUIRED.
The first step in our adoption process is completing and submitting an online application. Thank you.
