Helen is a 12 year old Shih Tzu, she weighs 10.3 pounds.
This poor baby was found standing in the middle of the road. A kind person picked her up and took her to our vet. Helen is mostly blind, we think she may be able to see some shadows. Her eyes are very dry so she is on eye drops and will probably have to get them for the rest of her life. Hopefully if we can get the dry eye better she may be able to see better too.
She was very scared when we got her but she is settling in nicely in her foster home. Helen was diagnosed with lyme's disease so she is on medication for that. She needs to be groomed but she is very sore from the lyme's and probably arthritis so the foster mom has just been taking it slow. She actually loves to be brushed now.
Helen will go to the door when she needs to go out but if she gets up from a nap she needs to be taken out right away or will have an accident. We don't know if she was ever spayed and we don't want to do surgery and find out she has already been. Once she gets better with the lyme's we will have her get a dental, finish her vaccines and go from there.
