Hops is a 14 month old Jack Russel/ Dachshund mix, he weighs about 18lbs. He is fully vaccinated and neutered and the vet says he is in great health.

 

Hops is a sweet boy, he loves attention and is affectionate to all people he meets. He loves to play and snuggle.  His favorite spot to be is by his foster families fireplace in the evening.

 

He is good with kids, there is a 3 year old in his foster home and they play often but they would not recommend him with kids any younger. Their daughter knows to leave him alone when he has food or if he growls. He has learned which toys are his toys but it took some time. 

 

He isn't good with cats and he gets jealous if his mom gives attention to her other dogs.

A home with smaller dogs or where he is the only dog may be best.

 

Hops is crate trained and sleeps there at night. He is mostly potty trained but needs to be let out right after eating. Hops is highly food motivated and trains well. He know sit, stay, lay down, and leave it. "Leave it" has been most helpful to learn as he is an expert food thief and is well versed at hopping on counters to steal food or from your hand if you turn your head. This is an area that he certainly needs more training but he is very smart and eager to learn.
